  • Description
  • A medical device designed for self-monitoring at home. The Combo Hemoglobin + Transferrin Fecal Occult Blood Test is a dual-parameter immunological test that detects two biomarkers of occult blood in the stool: Hemoglobin (HB) and Transferrin (TF). This dual detection identifies bleeding in the gastrointestinal tract.

Typically, stool does not contain a measurable amount of blood, so the presence of occult blood in the stool—blood that is not visible to the naked eye—is an indicator of gastrointestinal bleeding. Sometimes, hemorrhoids can cause blood in the stool, but it can also be a sign of other pathological conditions within this system. By detecting two biomarkers (hemoglobin and transferrin), the test can be used to determine the source of bleeding. Hemoglobin is a protein that performs many important functions in the body and is also a sensitive biomarker for bleeding from the lower gastrointestinal tract, which can aid in diagnosing ulcers, polyps, or intestinal inflammation. The test detects hemoglobin originating from the lower gastrointestinal tract. The presence of this biomarker in the stool indicates an ongoing pathological process. The second biomarker detected is transferrin—a protein whose presence in the stool may indicate bleeding from both the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract (stomach, duodenum, intestines).

The Combo Hemoglobin + Transferrin Fecal Occult Blood Test is distinguished by its high specificity and diagnostic sensitivity. The test detects hemoglobin in concentration ranges from 0.05 µg/mL to 2000 µg/mL and transferrin in concentration ranges from 40 ng/mL to 400 µg/mL. The test is non-invasive and easy to perform independently. The test principle is based on the specificity of the antigen-antibody reaction. Antibodies applied to the test fields of the cassette react with the hemoglobin and transferrin present in the tested stool sample. The test result is read as colored lines on the test fields within 5 minutes. The test result is not affected by diet or food intake.

Indications for the test: peptic ulcer disease, heartburn, stomach upset, flatulence, abdominal pain, sudden weight loss, feeling of heaviness, family predisposition to colon cancer.

Package contents: Sachet with test cassette 1 pc, Container with reagent and applicator for sample collection, User guide
