Each Penhaligon's fragrance is not just a refined symphony; it is a unique story that allows you to immerse yourself in the past. Historical figures have always captivated perfume enthusiasts, hence these two realms often intersect, resulting in the creation of exclusive scents. Penhaligon's The Favourite can rightfully be considered one of such distinguished fragrances... The inspiration behind this composition is the character Sarah Churchill – a favorite of Queen Anne. As one of the most influential women of her time, she could be a loyal friend and a dangerous enemy. The Duchess of Marlborough skillfully leveraged her status as the Queen's close friend, managing to gain immense influence at the English court.
The scent itself has a distinctive character with woody, musky, and floral motifs. It predominantly features the delicate tone of mimosa, but its base forms a dense trail of ambroxan, musk, and sandalwood. The eau de parfum is presented in a bottle of traditional design, created by the brand's founder William Henry Penhaligon in 1870: a clear vessel, hand-decorated with an elegant ribbon.
Comparing it to meteorites, Guerlain's fragrance is quite accurate. The scent is not light, even a bit sharp, in my opinion, but still quite pleasant.
I didn't buy it here, but I really liked the scent. It's clean, expensive, and very feminine. Long-lasting too. The packaging of the bottle is also pleasant.
I didn't order it here. I bought a 5ml sample to try. They have a very cheap smell. It's a pity, I guess I liked the bottle more.
