I currently own both the vintage and modern versions of Fiji, with the latter being purchased here. I have been testing them on both hands, and I must say... I prefer the modern version much more. It is fresher and more vibrant from the very beginning, and it captures the essence of why it's called Fiji - something island-like and elusive. I absolutely adore these old fragrances that now have a niche appeal. A scent can be strongly connected to emotions and memories. It either takes you back to your youth or fails to do so because memories have faded and life has changed... but that's not the perfume's fault. Perfume, in its own way, is beautiful, even if its formula differs from the original. I didn't know about this fragrance back then, and vintage versions don't always hold up well over time. Unfortunately, my vintage Fiji has lost some of its potency and quickly fades away. I'm thrilled that thanks to Makeup, I can experience the history of perfumes, and it's surprisingly affordable too.
