Monsieur Serge Lutens is the renowned perfumer, who created an equally renowned La Couche du Diable. The new masterpiece released in 2019 is very laconic. It consists of only two notes - dry agarwood and white labdanum flower. Who will own it: a man or a woman? Both options are possible, albeit with a subtle masculine bias.
Eau de Parfum Serge Lutens La Couche Du Diable begins its fascinating journey around the world. Its amazing fragrance bears a key to happiness and true joy. Do you want to wrap yourself up in the scent, own it solely and undividedly? This handsome eastern man with an exquisite European style will easily charm anyone. One may wonder if anyone can resist such a strong temptation.
I agree with the previous review. The scent is rich and intense, with notes of spices and wood. It's not overpowering, and you just want to keep inhaling it. I recommend testing it before purchasing.
Unique, hot, almost smoldering, dense aroma. It's a scent that you want to inhale and keep coming back to. (The key is not to overdo it when applying, especially in the heat!). It's very expressive yet somewhat subdued. More suited for the outdoors, walks, and events under the open sky. There's also something bar-like about it. I can detect notes of good alcohol, dried fruits, smokiness, spices, and a pleasant hint of soldering iron. Woodsiness.. And of course, the signature frankincense and musk... Perhaps a fragrance for an older gentleman, but I will gladly wear it now, without waiting for autumn.
The fragrance is wonderful, but it may not be for everyone. It's really something you have to try. What one person may find beautiful, another may not understand. It has warm woody notes, with a hint of sweetness, incense, cherry, and spices. It's warm, but not overwhelming.
When I asked about the expiration date, they didn't answer anything in the comments, just said that they have daily deliveries. But I just received this perfume and the manufacturing date is May 2019 (since it's a gift for a birthday in December, it means that the perfume was made 21 months ago, considering the storage period of 30 months). Also, considering that this perfume cannot be the only one in the assortment due to its specificity, it is unreal to use it within 9 months. I am very disappointed... It was my first order in makeup.
Compared to other fragrances by Serge Lutens, each of which is beautiful in its own way, this fragrance is an indistinct and discordant liquid. Under no circumstances should you buy this fragrance without testing it first! Do not listen to those who believe they have the right to claim that this creation will definitely suit everyone! How can one even write such a thing? Sense of smell and perception vary among individuals!
I really liked the scent. As everyone says, it has an old-school vibe but more subtle. The longevity is not great at the moment, but I'm waiting for the fragrance to settle. I can detect notes of incense, smokiness, and dried fruits. You can even buy it without testing it first.
The scent is unusual and vibrant. I do not recommend buying it without testing it first. I don't feel any "soldering irons" as mentioned below. For me, it's a vibrant aroma of bitter coffee with a hint of cognac. Seasoned with cinnamon and cloves. The scent is not sweet, and it's not a "delicious aroma." It is a serious fragrance for those who love and understand niche perfumery. Unisex.
If you understand Serge Lutens' aesthetics and know how to wear similar fragrances, then definitely pay attention to this scent. Moreover, the name "In the Devil's Embrace" sounds intriguing.
