The fragrance was named in honor of a popular home accessory - a narrow silk twill scarf known as "twilly", which can be styled in various ways: as a necktie, a hair ribbon, or wrapped around a bag handle. The composition's creator is Hermès' in-house perfumer, Christine Nagel.
According to the fragrance's creator, it is designed for young women of the "millennial generation", who are discovering the values of the esteemed Hermès house with its long-standing traditions. The primary notes of the composition are ginger, tuberose, and sandalwood. The scent is encapsulated in a cubic transparent bottle designed by one of the house's designers, Florence Manlik, with rounded edges characteristic of Hermès cologne bottles (this shape is inspired by ancient carriage lanterns). The bottle is topped with a black cast lid, reminiscent of a bowler hat. A narrow silk twill ribbon with a colorful print is tied around the neck.
