It has a slightly runny consistency, but you don't need a lot of product to distribute it evenly through your hair. After using the mask, my hair feels smooth, alive, and easy to comb. I can't comment on the shine since my hair already has a natural shine. I don't use a straightener, and by the second half of the day, the smoothness fades away. However, my friend tried it with a straightener, and the smoothness lasted longer for her.
